FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Answers to common questions about Dutiva — what it does, how it handles Canadian compliance, and how your data is protected.

General

Is Dutiva a law firm?

No. Dutiva provides practical HR workflow support and compliance-oriented guidance. It does not provide legal advice. Complex or high-risk situations should be reviewed with qualified counsel.

Who is Dutiva for?

Small and mid-sized Canadian employers — and the HR consultants who serve them — who need jurisdiction-aware HR guidance and review-ready documents.

Is Dutiva bilingual?

Yes. Every workflow ships in English and professional, Québec-appropriate French. Switch languages any time with the EN/FR toggle.

Does Dutiva run payroll?

No. Dutiva is HR compliance and documentation software — not a payroll provider. It does not process payroll, run pay cycles, remit source deductions, or issue pay.

Compliance & coverage

Which jurisdictions does Dutiva cover?

Ontario (Employment Standards Act, 2000), Quebec (Act respecting labour standards), and Federal (Canada Labour Code, Part III). Alberta and British Columbia are coming soon.

Does Dutiva give legal advice?

No. Dutiva names the applicable statute and structures the work, but high-risk matters should be reviewed with qualified counsel — Advisor flags when to escalate.

How accurate is the AI?

Advisor is grounded in the actual employment standards, but AI can make mistakes. Always verify statutory citations and thresholds against the primary source before relying on them.

Data & security

Where is my data processed?

Dutiva is PIPEDA-conscious and Quebec Law 25-aware. Some processing occurs outside Canada with appropriate safeguards — see the Cross-Border Data Transfer Disclosure.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Inputs sent to AI providers are processed transiently and are not retained to train third-party foundation models under Dutiva’s arrangement. Do not paste highly sensitive information — such as full SINs, medical details, or privileged legal notes — into the Advisor unless your organization has a lawful basis and a controlled workflow for that data.

How do I delete my data?

Email privacy@dutiva.ca with the subject line “Deletion Request”. See the User Data Deletion Procedures for the full process.

Pricing & billing

How much does Dutiva cost?

Free is a waitlist. Starter is $24/mo, Growth $49/mo (most popular), and Professional $99/mo. Prices in CAD; monthly billing is available now and annual billing is coming soon.

Is there a free trial?

A paid plan is the open path in — pick one on the pricing page and check out. If you’d rather not pay yet, a waitlist of 5 free seats is available; once those are taken, new signups stay on the list and we email them as seats open.

What is your refund policy?

Refund eligibility depends on your plan and billing period. You can cancel anytime — access continues until the end of your billing period. See the Refund and Cancellation Policy for the full, current terms.

Can I use one subscription for multiple clients?

Each Dutiva account is for one organization. HR consultants managing multiple clients should contact us about consultant pricing and multi-account options.

Choosing and getting started

What does Dutiva actually do?

Dutiva Advisor is AI-powered HR compliance software for Canadian employers. Describe a workplace situation, choose Ontario, Quebec, or federal, and get jurisdiction-aware guidance, risk flags, and review-ready HR documents from hiring through termination, in English or French. Not a substitute for your lawyer. Dutiva provides compliance-oriented support. It does not provide legal advice.

How do I choose an HR compliance provider in this space?

Look at whether prices are public, whether the product names the statute that applies — Ontario’s Employment Standards Act, 2000, Quebec’s Act respecting labour standards, or the Canada Labour Code, Part III — rather than only the province, whether it ships in English and French, whether it states it is not legal advice, and whether you can start without a sales call. Dutiva publishes those answers on the pricing page, known limitations, and the HRdownloads and SixFifty comparisons.

What should I know before committing to Dutiva?

Dutiva currently covers Ontario, Quebec, and federally regulated workplaces. Alberta and British Columbia are not covered yet. It is compliance-oriented software, not legal advice, and Advisor can be wrong — verify citations before you rely on them. Paid plans skip the waitlist; free seats are a waitlist of 5. Read known limitations and the legal documents before you check out.

Is Dutiva reputable?

Dutiva Canada Inc. is an active federal corporation under the Canada Business Corporations Act, number 1780679-5, incorporated 27 March 2026. Martin Constantineau is Founder and CEO and the sole director of record. Policies and a security overview are published on dutiva.ca. Dutiva does not invent customer reviews, and it does not provide legal advice.

How do I get started with Dutiva?

Pick a plan at dutiva.ca/pricing to start today — paying skips the waitlist and includes founder-led support. If you’d rather not pay yet, leave your email on the waitlist of 5 free seats and we’ll write when one opens. The full product is open to every admitted account. Dutiva provides compliance-oriented support. It does not provide legal advice.

How do I contact Dutiva support?

Email support@dutiva.ca or send a written request at dutiva.ca/contact without an account — product questions, privacy, security, and accessibility. We reply in writing to the same ticket. The Help Centre covers sign-in, documents, Advisor, billing, and privacy. General inbound phone support is not offered. When writing cannot reasonably resolve it, we may arrange a scheduled call.
